The National Capital District Volleyball Association [NCDVA] will get back to the courts this weekend with a primary mission to ensure every club is battle-ready and correctly tiered for the year ahead.

NCDVA president Wally Irau has confirmed that the 2026 pre-season, kicking off this Saturday, February 14, at the Taurama Aquatic Indoor Centre [TAIC], is specifically designed as a three-week bridge to help clubs organize their rosters into respective divisions.

Irau said the condensed window serves as a vital sorting phase, ensuring that once the proper season begins, the competition remains balanced, professional, and high-caliber.

Reflecting on a successful 2025 campaign, president Irau said pre-season games are important in maintaining the smooth finish of last year while unleashing new talent.

"The goal is to foster community spirit and assist clubs in organizing their rosters," Irau said. "By focusing on these administrative and developmental goals now, the association aims to avoid the mid-season reshuffling that can often disrupt competition momentum."

To ensure the intensity remains high during this preparation phase, the NCDVA is putting its money where its mouth is. Cash prizes will be awarded at the end of the three-week tournament under the 'keep the ball flying' campaign.

While prize amounts are currently being finalized, the incentive is already driving high engagement. Currently, 12 teams from six powerhouse clubs are confirmed including Jugu, Eka Kereibua, Matala, Vailima, Phoenix and Kaugera Isapea

With two club slots still vacant, the NCDVA is keeping the door open for new contenders to join the ranks before the Saturday serve-off.

"I am kindly asking all our good clubs to come along," Irau said. "Let’s have fun together and keep the ball flying in the air for 2026."
