Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa has re-emphasized zero tolerance on corruption in the Madang government and administration during a dedication service for public servants on Wednesday.

Under the Madang government's new theme, 'God is doing a new thing for Madang,' the governor remains optimistic that better things are coming but urged every public servant to work together in order to deliver his government's vision.

He further urged them to improve discipline and other values like accountability, transparency, and good governance in their respective duties as public servants.

Pariwa has always been very vocal about the need to stop corruption since taking office as the political head of Madang province in 2022.

"You must work responsibly in your respective duty statement because if you don't, be mindful that we (Madang Provincial Government) have signed a covenant with God, and He will find you and strike you. I declare it God will strike you because we have made a covenant with God who is always faithful to His Word.

"We've got that responsibility to serve Him and serve the masters. Your masters are the people.

"The positions you are occupying belong to the people of Madang. It doesn't matter whether you are a janitor or the provincial administrator, you have a duty to the people of Madang, and you are answerable to them. They pay your salaries through the taxes they pay, and you owe it to them.

"In the last 50 years, 20 years, 10 years or 5 years, we did not work responsibly. Madang needs change, radical change, and that change must start now with you and me," he said.

Pariwa said Madang has been through rough seas but is now beginning to sail in calm waters with God at the helm as the Captain of MV Madang.

Furthermore, the governor discouraged them not to dwell on the things of the past.
