In a major boost for rugby league in Madang Province, Brian Bell Home Center has presented a new set of uniforms to the Madang Rugby League provincial team, the Madang Fox.

The presentation was made by Brian Bell Home Center General Manager Janoa Smith during a small ceremony attended by Madang Rugby League officials, players and supporters.

The new jerseys, sponsored through the Brian Bell Foundation, come at an important time as the team prepares for tougher challenges ahead.

Receiving the uniforms on behalf of the league, Madang Rugby League Administrator and President Albert Tobe thanked the Brian Bell Foundation for its timely support.

“We are deeply grateful to Brian Bell Foundation for sponsoring these uniforms for our provincial team, the Madang Fox,” Mr Tobe said.

“This sponsorship is a huge boost for the development of rugby league in Madang, especially as we prepare to enter the national competition in 2027.”

Mr Tobe said the support goes beyond providing jerseys, describing rugby league as an important tool for community development.

“Rugby league is not just a sport. It promotes unity, peace and a healthy society. It keeps our young people engaged, disciplined and focused,” he said.

He added that a strong provincial rugby league program can also support small and medium enterprises and stimulate local economic activity.

“When we host matches, businesses benefit. SMEs grow. Communities come together. Rugby league creates opportunities not only for players, but also for vendors, transport operators and accommodation providers,” Mr Tobe said.

The new uniforms symbolise renewed hope and ambition for rugby league in Madang. After years of rebuilding, the league is now setting its sights on national competition in 2027, confident that support from partners like Brian Bell will help build a strong and competitive future.
