In a bold push for accountability, the Simbu Provincial Administration has immediately revoked 24/7 vehicle privileges for several senior advisors and managers.

Simbu Provincial Administrator John Punde issued a stern circular on March 3, 2026, citing repeated misuse of Simbu Provincial Government (SPG) vehicles.

The crackdown targets leaders in the Revenue, Commerce, Budget, Internal Audit, Law & Justice, and Provincial Works divisions.

Punde highlighted a pattern of abuse, including officers traveling outside the province without approval and falsifying travel records. Some even sought unauthorized nods from deputy or caretaker administrators during his absences.

"In any organization, vehicles allocated to senior officers are a privilege to boost work performance not a right," Punde said.

He said government assets demand careful and responsible use.

"Affected officials must surrender keys to the acting Transport Officer. Divisional vehicles are now limited to 7:45 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and must be parked at the main SPG car park after hours and on weekends. Education Division vehicles follow the same rules at their designated car park," Punde said.

He also said senior officials can no longer drive themselves during work hours and must use designated drivers.

Punde said the acting Transport Officer and SPG Security Manager will enforce these rules strictly.
