No public holiday on Friday

There is no public holiday, scheduled for this Friday the 17th of April, 2026.

Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra said this when releasing a statement to clarify the mix-up.

He said that the Education calendar initially had 17th April 2026 as a public holiday, to commemorate the birthday of King Charles the third.

Dr. Kombra said that this error was unintentional, and they regret any confusion this mistake has caused to any students, teachers, and parents who use this annual calendar to plan their activities.

He however clarified that the King's Birthday will now be observed on Wednesday the 17th of June 2026.
