Villages in Kokoda LLG destroyed by strong winds

Eleven villages in Kokoda LLG have been badly destroyed by strong winds and rain.

Provincial Disaster Coordinator, Nohoro Akai confirmed this with this new room.

Mr. Akai said the provincial disaster officials upon receiving the information from locals this week, traveled to the affected communities and made rapid assessment.

Akai said upon the rapid assessment the provincial disaster office provided non food relief supplies to those displaced by the strong winds in Kokoda LLG.

Meantime Akai said his office has received reports from Tufi LLG that some communities and villages have been displace by the effect of cyclone Maila.

Akai said Oro Provincial Government together with its administration are working closely to secure logistics and travel to Tufi today and assist the displaced communities.
