Bogia police can count themselves lucky this week after receiving two separate donations from Yawar Local Level Government and Manam Resettlement Authority.

Yawar LLG presented a brand-new diesel generator to help light up the Bogia Police Station at night as well as help in their administration work, whilst MaRA gave them new sets of uniform.

The presentations were done on Thursday at the Bogia Police Station.

The assistance by Yawar to support Bogia District police was made possible following grant assistance from the Ramu Nickel Project's royalty earnings of 2025.

President of Yawar LLG, Lakus Ruambi, handed over the new generator set with its accessories to the Bogia station commander, senior sergeant Albert Saui.

Ruambi, during the presentation ceremony, thanked the nickel-cobalt mine developer, Ramu NiCo Management [MCC] Limited, and the Madang Provincial Government for the benefit sharing in the royalty.

He said Yawar LLG received over K130,000 this year from the Ramu Nickel Project royalty grant assistance, which they are so thankful for and plan to share the funds wisely in the various socio-economic sectors.

He further clarified that the purchase of the new diesel generator set was just over K10,000

Sergeant Saui thanked Yawar leaders for supporting Bogia police.

"The new generator would greatly assist the police personnel at Bogia to do their administrative work efficiently, particularly in preparing arrests files and prosecution papers," he said. "Previously, it was too costly as they resorted to do paper work using outside service providers."

Law and Order Sector Chairman in the Bogia District Development Authority, James Sukua acknowledged Ruambi for considering Bogia Rural Police Command with the assistance.

Meanwhile, another presentation also took place at that time, which saw the Manam Resettlement Authority [MaRA) present brand-new uniforms to Bogia police.

The Chief Executive Officer of MaRA, Richard Baia, presented the uniforms to the police boss.

Baia explained said; "The new uniforms for Bogia police were purchased after Snr. Sergeant Saui and his police personnel decided to sacrifice their allowances from providing security during the Kumil bridge disaster earlier this year.

"Instead of paying the officers their daily allowances, the funds were saved and utilized to purchase their new uniforms," he said.
