PM Marape congratulates United States on 250th anniversary of Independence
Prime Minister, James Marape has congratulated President Donald J. Trump, the Government and the American people as they celebrated the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America on the 4th of July.
PM Marape said the occasion marked a historic milestone not only for the United States but also for nations around the world that continue to value freedom, democracy, opportunity and national self-determination.
“For 250 years, the United States has stood as one of the world’s leading democracies, making significant contributions to global peace, security, innovation and economic development. Its remarkable journey continues to inspire nations, including Papua New Guinea, as we pursue our own aspirations for growth and prosperity.” he said.
Marape said Papua New Guinea deeply values its longstanding friendship with the United States, built on shared democratic values, mutual respect and a common commitment to peace, security and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
“Our friendship has deep historical roots dating back to the Second World War, when the people of Papua New Guinea and the United States stood together during one of history’s defining moments.
“Today, that relationship continues to grow through cooperation in defence, trade and investment, health, education, energy, disaster response and people-to-people exchanges.” PM Marape said.
