Announcement of new Cabinet composition postponed
Prime Minister James Marape’s anticipated announcement of a Cabinet reshuffle has been deferred to next week.
The Office of the Prime Minister confirmed the delay on Friday, July 10, 2026, stating that the final composition of the National Executive Council [NEC] will now be released following the Prime Minister's return to Port Moresby.
The delay comes as Mr. Marape travels to Vanimo, West Sepik Province, to attend Connect PNG program engagements and officiate the launch of several major development projects.
These include key road infrastructure corridors under the government's flagship connectivity initiative.
The final list of ministerial portfolio allocations is expected to be made public upon his return to the nation's capital, likely on Sunday or Monday.
Speaking at a news conference prior to his departure, Marape revealed that the upcoming reshuffle will introduce new ministerial appointments alongside a structural overhaul of existing portfolios.
According to the Prime Minister, the impending changes follow an extensive round of ministerial performance reviews.
The realignment is strategically aimed at strengthening frontline service delivery and improving efficiency as the government prepares for the 2027 National Election.
