Elimbari TVET in Simbu gets new vehicle to drive students’ dreams

After two decades of service and nine years without a vehicle, Elimbari Technical Vocational Education and Training [TVET] in Chuave has finally received a brand-new Land Cruiser on Tuesday.

For the last 9 years, the board, staff and students had no choice but to use PMVs to run school business in Simbu. Practical training and out-of-province student placements were also badly affected.

Headmistress, Sharon Aromo, said running a tertiary institution without transport has been extremely tough.

“It’s a big relief for the board, teachers and students,” she said.

The vehicle was officially presented today by Chief Executive Officer of the Chuave District Development Authority, Francis Aiwa, on behalf of the Chuave DDA and Chairman, James Nomane.

Speaking at the handover, Aiwa said the Chuave DDA, under the leadership of James Nomane, is prioritizing vital areas such as Education, Health, feeder roads, and infrastructure.

“TVET is a special institution where many of our youths can be trained to become skilled leaders in our communities,” he said.

He urged young people in Elimbari who are currently idle to register at Elimbari TVET for a better future.

Chairman of Elimbari TVET, Nimrod Koma, described the donation as a major boost and thanked the Chuave DDA for investing in the right place.

“Elimbari TVET continues to send students into Hospitality, Carpentry, and Mechanical trades,” he said.

Community leader, Paul Sinowai, spoke on behalf of the people of Elimbari and assured the DDA that the vehicle would be well taken care of.

Since the school’s establishment 20 years ago, only one vehicle had been provided by Simbu Governor Noah Kool during his first term. That vehicle was overused and eventually broke down.

The presentation was witnessed by the Chuave District Education Advisor, Chuave Police Station Commander Peter Lari, councilors of Wards 4, 5 and 6, of Elimbari LLG and members of the community.
