North Waghi District MP initiates Peace Ceremony
The Word of God and devotion to Christian principles is the answer to maintain and upload peace and prosperity in communities.
Member for North Wahgi, Hon Benjamin Mul said this while officiating a peace ceremony today at Kumbal in Nondugul LLG of North Waghi District in Jiwaka.
MP Benjamin Mul units the two warrian clans of Damba Tribe, the Damba Mingaku and Damba Kombuk Nagle.
The peace settlement comes after four years from a dispute erupted during 2022 National General Election that resulted in six deaths, properties devastated and communities displaced.
While officiating the peace ceremony, MP Benjamin Mul urges communities to repent and go to church.
Mr Mul also urges church pastors to go to disadvantage youths who are engaged in Marijuana and homebrew and have devotion and change their lives.
"Pastors must go out and engage with the communities and youths to convert them into devoted Christian…" He said.
Mul said, Good law and order is based on Bible and Christian principles.
"The Damba people are living along the National Highway with access to all basic government services…you must used this opportunity to build a good life and forget about tribal fight." Mul said.
Furthermore, Mr Mul intervened during the fighting in 2022 and completed it today with an total expense of K100,000 with additional pig killing and food staffs.
Final part of the peace ceremony will be the signing of a agreement between the Damba people to put to stop in tribal fighting.
This binded and signed document will be kept as a witness to this peace and whoever instigating a fight in the future will be arrested serving with terms and conditions accordingly.
