Gumine Health Centre in Simbu Province is set to be upgraded into a Level 4 district hospital to serve people in Gumine and Salt-Nomane-Karimui districts.

The upgrade follows a recent clinical assessment carried out at the health centre by the Simbu Provincial Health Authority and consultants from the Health Services Sector Development Program.

Simbu Provincial Health Authority Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ken Kassi, commended Gumine District Health Officer David Moses, health workers, and residents for supporting the assessment.

Dr Kassi said the new hospital will improve health services for people living in remote parts of southern Simbu.

He said the project is supported by the Asian Development Bank through the Health Services Sector Development Program, which will soon continue under the SHARE Project.

He also confirmed that plans are underway to upgrade two more Level 3 health facilities in Salt-Nomane-Karimui.

Dr Kassi thanked project partners, health workers, and the Gumine community for their support.

He also commended District Health Officer David Moses for improving health leadership and services in Gumine.

"Health services are for our people. We deliver quality care to all Simbu corridors, tackling the 'last mile,"Dr Kassi emphasized.
