The Teaching Service Commission [TSC] has launched a new website to help teachers across Papua New Guinea access important services and information online.

The new digital platform was launched on Wednesday in Port Moresby.

TSC Chairman Maini Ugaia said the website is a major step forward in improving communication between teachers and the commission.

Mr Ugaia said teachers can now download appointment and leave forms, access policies and circulars, and receive updates online without travelling to provincial offices or Port Moresby.

“Through this website, teachers can now access and download essential appointment and leave forms instantly at their fingertips,” he said.

“For too long, many teachers, especially in rural areas, have spent money and time travelling just to check a file or collect forms.”

Mr Ugaia said the website will help reduce costs for teachers and improve communication between schools and the commission.

Acting Education Minister Kinoka Feo described the launch as an important development for the education sector.

“In this digital age, accessibility is key. This website brings the commission directly to the teachers’ doorsteps and fingertips,” Mr Feo said.

He said easier access to services will allow teachers to spend more time teaching students in classrooms.

“If the TSC is efficient, our teachers are motivated, and when teachers are motivated, our children learn better,” he said.
