New Ireland Police Command welcomes new Provincial Commander
The New Ireland Police Command officially welcomed its new leader today during a handover-takeover ceremony at the Kavieng police headquarters, marking the transition of the Provincial Police Commander (PPC) post from Chief Superintendent Albert Beli to Chief Superintendent George Fanamanu.
Chief Superintendent Fanamanu, is a senior officer from the New Zealand Police originally from Tonga, recently took his oath of office in Port Moresby.
He becomes the eighth Commonwealth Police Officer to join the ranks of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) under ongoing international police partnership programs, bringing extensive Pacific region experience to his new role in New Ireland Province.
Addressing the officers during the ceremony, Chief Superintendent Beli expressed his gratitude to the local constabulary and the community for their support during his tenure.
Incoming PPC Fanamanu expressed his commitment to maintaining law and order, strengthening community relationships, and supporting local frontline officers throughout the province.
