"SPAP program has helped upgrade most of the Papua New Guinea provincial police headquarters, and Popondetta police headquarters is part of the infrastructure rehabilitation funded program." Dr. Mitna said.
Savana Construction Limited has been paid in full with over K1 million, and will begin construction of the new police headquarters for the province immediately following the decommissioning.
Northern Governor Gary Juffa thanked the National Government and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary for ensuring the project was captured under SPAP.
Governor Juffa said the Oro Provincial Government’s priority is to mitigate law and order in the province, and it will continue to support the provincial police command to achieve its outcomes.
As part of that support, Governor Juffa presented a K100,000 cheque to Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Charles Winuwan, to enhance administration. The remaining balance of K150,000 will be made available at a later date.
The Biru Correctional Service Institute also received K100,000 from the Oro Provincial Government, with a remaining balance of K150,000 to be paid later.
Governor Juffa said his government will work closely with RPNGC Headquarters to support the process of building the proposed two-level police headquarters for the province.
