Simbu’s only resource is its people, says Kombra

Education secretary Dr. Uke Kombra says Simbu plarovince's greatest resource is its people and education remains the equalizer that will put every child on the same level.

Dr. Kombra made the remarks at Kangir yesterday during the commissioning of Apa Karwage Junior Technical High School, the first institution for Kundiawa-Gembogl District.

He urged parents to ensure their children complete preschool to Grade 12 under the free education policy, stressing that an educated child will eventually support the family and contribute to community and national development.

The new institution was commissioned together with a 4-in-1 double classroom and its Concept Development Plan. The school will offer mainstream classes from Grade 7 to 10 and technical courses in Automotive Mechanic, Office Administration, Tourism and Hospitality, and Carpentry and Joinery NC1 and NC2.

The concept plan was jointly unveiled by Minister for Education, Francis Siune and Kundiawa-Gembogl MP Muguwa Dilu with the education secretary.

Minister Siune announced a K500,000 commitment to address immediate needs of the school and acknowledged TVET Inspector and Provincial 1-6-6 chairman Paul Moiwo for delivering the project.

MP Dilu said Kundiawa-Gembogl has always produced top educated human resource and must continue to progress as the country marks 51 years of Independence.

The school will serve Kangir and surrounding communities and is expected to commence classes next year. The project is an initiative of the Kundiawa-Gembogl District Development Authority.
