The Oro Provincial Government, through its administration, has funded K1 million to train young men and women as Police Reservists in the province.

This has been confirmed to NBC News by Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Charles Winuwan.

Winuwan, in an exclusive interview with NBC News, said the Police Reservists Program started some years back, but due to administrative constraints, the program has been delayed until 2026.

PPC Winuwan said the current recruitment of Police Reservists is comprised of those who completed Grade 12 between the year 2020 and 2025 and public servants. The medical screening, mandatory briefing, and registration process for the shortlisted Police Reservists' candidates commenced today and will end on Friday, 16th October 2026.

The medical examination will determine the final selection process of the Police Reservists' program.

On this note, PPC Winuwan said the shortlisted Police Reservists' candidates will undergo 6 weeks of intensive training at University of Natural Resources or UNRE Oro Campus and will be certified to conduct policing duties as reservists in the province.

In the meantime, PPC Winuwan pointed out that those who graduate as certified Police Reservists will be engaged in the upcoming National General Election in 2027.

PPC Winuwan thanked Northern Governor Gary Juffa with his administration to ensure the Police Reservists Program is delivered in the province going forward.
