Morobe 63rd annual show draws strong crowd
Morobe Show president Hans Mehl says the 63rd annual show has drawn strong crowds, reaching about three-quarters capacity by mid-morning despite a delayed start.
Mehl said the morning programme was delayed after some security personnel arrived late, but the issues were resolved and activities were underway.
He said the fireworks display at Mount Lunaman on Friday night went well, while stallholders were active and visitors were enjoying the show.
Light rain briefly delayed ring events, but Mehl remained hopeful the weather would clear.
Motorbike displays, the Naked Koala band and parachutists carrying flags were among the attractions visitors were looking forward to.
Mehl said the strong early turnout was encouraging, with crowd numbers already at levels normally seen around midday.
