The Kerowagi District has become the first district in Simbu Province to formally sign the District Community Development Centre [DCDC] agreement with the Department for Community Development and Religion [DFCDR] this year.

The agreement was signed by Kerowagi Open Member Francis Kikin Siune, and Jason Peter the Minister for Youth, Religion and Community Development.

This milestone partnership paves the way for both the Department and the District Development Authority [DDA] to work together in establishing a DCDC in Kerowagi, aimed at strengthening service delivery at the district and ward levels.

Minister Jason Peter congratulated the Kerowagi District Development Authority and the local MP, describing the agreement as a significant step forward in bringing government services closer to the people at the grassroots level.

Kerowagi MP, Francis Siune also commended the Minister and DFCDR for the initiative, stating that it is a privilege for Kerowagi to be part of a development program of this importance.

He noted that, 50 years after Independence, the establishment of such a centre marks a major milestone in improving service delivery in the district.

“A lot of good programs have been done by various ministries, and I believe Community Development is taking the right approach.

" As the Chairman of the District Development Authority, and Vice Minister for Public Services, I feel privileged to receive this program,” he said.

He further emphasized that the DCDC will help the DDA address social issues more effectively and coordinate government programs under one roof.

“We have done several things in the district, but this facility will accommodate many of our programs. It will serve the community well and add value to our ongoing development efforts. A building like this is something we truly need,” Siune said.

Once established, the DCDC will serve communities across the district and wards, including vulnerable and marginalized groups, ensuring improved access to government services.
