PNGDF probe aims to fix recruitment problems
Prime Minister James Marape said the special investigation into the PNG Defense Force is not to point fingers but to fix the mess created in its recruitment process.
While mentioning this in a press conference last week, Mr Marape said, recruitment has been very low in the past 10 years, and the investigation is to identify flaws in the system.
He said the current investigation is the way forward to fix issues faced in the PNG Defense Force and it is fundamental.
"I have already made it a policy announcement that for every defence recruit, we will scale down to the provincial limit.
"So we make sure our defence is equally staffed with full representation around our country as we try to build a modern defence force going forward," the prime minister said.
Meanwhile, Mr Marape is yet to give an update on the investigation into the PNG Defense Force recruitment process.
