Call to regulate hire car rates
The Morobe Land Transport Authority has been urged to start regulating the hire car business rates in the province and also start issuing routes for new roads which have been constructed in the Wau Waria District of Morobe Province.
Wau Waria MP, Marsh Narewec, said this after receiving complaints from his people, who travel and use the Kaindi Road, as well as the Northern Highway.
Narewec says that these roads were built and maintained by the National Government, for the ordinary people to use, but fast money-making people are abusing it, by charging exorbitant rates.
He also adds that not everyone in the district are alluvial miners, but they are still being forced to pay high fares and rates when using these roads.
Narewec has also called on the Land Transport Authority, to visit the district and allocate route numbers for vehicles, especially Public Motor Vehicles (PMV’s), who are currently operating on their newly constructed roads.
